Twitter owner Elon Musk tweeted on Saturday that the social media platform’s more expensive subscriptions won’t show ads.
The billionaire also said that ads are “frequent and too big on Twitter,” and that steps will be taken in the coming weeks to address these issues.
Twitter did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Twitter derives nearly 90% of its revenue from digital ad sales, and Musk recently blamed a “significant drop in revenue” on rights groups that pressured brands to suspend Twitter ads. thinking.
Earlier in December, Musk announced that Twitter would halve the number of ads on its Basic Blue tick and offer an ad-free upper tier by 2023.
