Decathlon’s Triban RR 900 Thermal Cycling Gloves are about half the price of many alternative options, yet do a great job of keeping your hands warm.
In fact, the RR 900s are said to be Decathlon’s warmest cycling gloves, with the fit and padding of a ski glove. Decathlon describes the glove as “for cyclists riding in temperatures close to 0°C”.
However, that level of warmth may be too much unless you regularly cycle in freezing or subzero temperatures.
The bulky construction also makes the shift lever difficult to use.
Triban RR 900 Thermal Cycling Gloves Specifications
The gloves have a fleece lining and you can feel there is a fair amount of fiber padding between that lining and the water and wind resistant outer surface.
The glove’s pre-curved shape reduces the chance of the synthetic suede palm cracking when you grip the bars. The base of the thumb and heel of the palm have additional Technogel padding designed to reduce pressure on the bar.
While many cycling gloves are cut to fit under the sleeves of a cycling jacket, the cuffs of the Triban RR 900 gloves are too bulky to fit inside the sleeves. It’s long, closed with a Velcro tab, and has a ribbon puller inside to help put the glove on and off.
The index and middle fingers have touch-sensitive tips. His two outer fingers have reflective strips, and the bright yellow color helps with hand signals (there’s also a black option to reduce the hassle of washing).

Decathlon Triban RR 900 Thermal Cycling Gloves keep your hands warm. It might be too warm for the cool, humid winter weather that is common in the south of England where I tested it. They were a good option if you often ride when it’s freezing or near freezing.
This glove hits the mark in Decathlon’s positioning and is priced competitively. There is no waterproof function, but the outer fabric has a water repellent effect of light rain.
Elsewhere in the range, the even cheaper Triban RR 500 gloves have been rated by Decathlon in temperatures of 6°C to 11°C, suggesting they are suitable for mild winter conditions.
Due to the high padding, the Triban RR 900 gloves are quite bulky and I found it very difficult to use the controls, especially the shift lever. It’s easy to press the wrong lever.
Some more expensive gloves can achieve warmth in cold conditions without the bulk here. .
The gloves are easy to put on and take off with a loop puller and have a velcro tab for a snug fit. If you like wearing a watch while riding, the long cuffs can get in the way and make it difficult to fit snugly.
The touch-sensitive parts of the fingers are located well below the fingertips, which makes using a cycle computer or phone very unsuccessful. The only thing harder than swiping between screens is taking off your gloves.

For cold weather riders, the Triban RR 900 Thermal Cycling Gloves are a great option at a very competitive price, but they may be too warm for warmer climates.
