It’s been quite some time since someone tested the effectiveness of Cheese Whiz as a thermal paste. Slashdot links to reviews that have tried a variety of thermal interface materials, including regular thermal paste, cheese, ketchup, toothpaste, diaper rash ointment, and potatoes. Needless to say, not all have been effective.

Sadly, they didn’t try the high-end part and instead used a more modest Radeon R7 240 with a 30W TDP to run Furmark for 5 minutes. Of the more interesting choices, toothpaste and ketchup were the best.Most of the other tasty foods didn’t burn, but they also led to heat throttling.
