Why I’m Excited About the OnePlus 11 5G

I already had high hopes for the 11 as it will be the third generation phone to be released during OnePlus’ partnership with iconic camera company Hasselblad. Until now, Hasselblad’s influence has mostly been behind the scenes in nifty software features like camera adjustments and his Xpan panorama styles. The OnePlus 11 could actually see the new camera hardware for the first time as a result of the partnership.

I should also point out that translation can lose details and nuances, so keep that in mind as you read on.

OnePlus 11 looks great

The 11’s design continues where the 10 Pro left off. Translated, the site says the OnePlus 11’s look was inspired by “a black hole in science fiction.” But instead of the square camera bump found on the 10 Pro, the 11 has a round top and tapered sides that flow to the edge of the phone. When the phone is turned sideways, the camera makes the shape of his bump look like the silhouette of Darth Vader’s helmet.

The site shows phones in two colors. It comes in a matte green, not British racing green, and a textured black finish called “silk glass” according to the translated text. This means that the finish looks textured but is just flat glass to the touch.

There aren’t many pictures of the front, but there is a display with cascading edges flowing from the right and left sides of the phone. The front camera is housed in a hole-punched cutout on the upper left.

An alert slider appears in the site’s product video, which also shows a fancy stylized close-up of the OnePlus 11. The 11 joins the likes of the Nubia Red Magic 8, which has a similar hardware slider to put the phone into game mode.

OnePlus 11 has the latest Android hardware

The phone has a 6.7-inch AMOLED screen with a variable refresh rate up to 120Hz. The display is LTPO 3. Last year’s 10 Pro had an LTPO 2 display. LTPO stands for Low Temperature Polycrystalline Oxide, which allows you to increase the refresh rate of your display without draining your battery. According to the translated text, the LTPO 3 is smoother and even more power efficient. Graphics claims the display can go down to 1 Hz. this is, iPhone 14 Pro always-on display.

Under the hood, the 11 is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip, with 35% faster CPU performance and 25% faster GPU, according to a OnePlus press release. The 11 is his one of the first phones with his new Qualcomm chip. The 11 also comes with 16GB of RAM and either 256GB or 512GB of storage.

Powering everything is a dual 2,500 mAh battery that supports 100W fast charging. Last year’s 10 Pro featured the same dual battery setup and supported 80W fast charging, with the exception of the US model, which was limited to 65W fast charging. The OnePlus 10T supports 150W charging worldwide and 125W charging in the US. By the way, the iPhone 14 Pro supports 20W fast charging. OnePlus says the 11’s battery can charge from empty to 100% in 25 minutes.

The OnePlus 11 has a 50-megapixel main camera and a 48-megapixel ultra-wide camera system, similar to the 10 Pro’s. It also has a telephoto camera with a 32-megapixel sensor and 2x optical zoom compared to the 10 Pro’s 8-megapixel sensor and 3.3x optical zoom.

Sony manufactured all the image sensors, including the image sensor for the new telephoto camera. But you have to wonder if OnePlus and Hasselblad opted for his 32-megapixel sensor paired with a shorter telephoto lens because it yields better photos than the 10 Pro’s telephoto lens. If so, this is the first time we’ve seen a camera hardware design stemming from the OnePlus and Hasselblad partnership.

The translated text suggests that the new telephoto camera will be able to take photos with more accurate colors.The portrait mode photos were taken with Hasselblad’s XCD medium format lens, according to OnePlus China’s site. It has a better simulated bokeh that mimics the look of the image.

The 11 sample photos look great, with balanced colors and highlights that change with your skin tone. Almost every mobile phone manufacturer’s website boasts impressive photos taken with their phones, so these photos should be taken roughly. Sadly, there’s no word on whether these photo improvements apply to video recording.

Do you have a OnePlus 11 Pro?

From everything I’ve read on the website, the OnePlus 11 is the highest spec OnePlus phone ever made. Despite the lack of nomenclature, it appears to be a “Pro” model this year. Its 6.7-inch screen is the same size as the 10 Pro’s. In fact, OnePlus China president Li Jie said there will be no “pro” version of the OnePlus 11 when asked on the Chinese social network Weibo.

This represents a continued departure from OnePlus’ previous product strategy. Until recently, OnePlus released three models of his flagship phone: a regular version, a “pro” model, and later in the year a T model. For example, in 2020 we had the OnePlus 8, 8 Pro and 8T.
