Apple is rarely the first to market with a new product category. The company usually makes way for other brands while they perfect their technology. That’s the case with foldable tech, and if the latest rumors are true, they’re poised to dominate the foldable tablet space.
This week, prominent Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo posted a tweet He said he is confident the foldable iPad will hit store shelves in 2024. He believes there will be no new iPad models this year and that Apple’s tablet shipments will drop by 10-15% in 2023.

Therefore, I am taking a cautious approach to iPad shipments in 2023, predicting a 10-15% year-over-year decline. Nonetheless, I’m positive about his 2024 foldable iPad and expect this new model to boost shipments and improve the product mix.— Ming-Chi Kuo (@mingchikuo) January 30, 2023
Kuo is known for his field intelligence on Apple’s predictions. He has done a lot of first-hand research in China, talked to Apple suppliers, inferred their contracts through product orders, and is known for his accurate reporting. Kuo said he spoke with electronics maker Anjie Technology to understand the company’s role in making a carbon fiber kickstand for the foldable iPad.
If Kuo’s predictions are accurate and Apple starts producing the foldable iPad in Q1 2024, the company could announce the new device at its annual product launch event, usually held in October.
