Apple’s foldable iPad might come next year

Apple is working on a very different version of the iPad, which could come in 2024.

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claims that an “all-new design foldable iPad” will arrive sometime next year.

“I’m positive about the 2024 foldable iPad and expect this new model to boost shipments and improve the product mix. Kuo wrote on Monday. (opens in new window)

Kuo also claims that the new iPad comes with a carbon fiber kickstand, which should make it lighter and more durable.

According to Kuo, all this means that we may not see a new iPad release in the next nine to 12 months. The first new Apple tablet we see will likely be the iPad mini, which is set to enter mass production in the first quarter of 2024.

Given Kuo’s prediction that the iPad will be in a drought for much of 2023, it’s worth revisiting recent rumors about Apple’s upcoming tablet. said it could start in late 2023 or early 2024. Now he seems more confident that it won’t happen this year, and in October 2022, The Information also reported that Apple is working on a massive 16-inch new iPad, which he expects to happen in 2023. It said it could come out in 2019. Analyst Ross Young said in December 2022 that Apple is working on a slightly larger iPad Pro model with his OLED. Finally, earlier this month, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman said Apple was working on devices like his iPad that would allow users to control various smart home functions.

The foldable iPad is arguably the most interesting Apple tablet for a while, if that’s true. Not only is this Apple’s first foldable device of any kind, but it also takes the iPad in a whole new direction, perhaps making it a better competitor to the company’s MacBook computers. I’ve heard rumors of this for a long time, but so far it hasn’t happened.
