It’s still breadcrumbs, but leaks of the latest OnePlus foldable phones let us go a little further.
The next release of OnePlus’ foldable phones will be spotted Twitter user Mukul Sharman has started the trademark registration process in China (via 9to5Google). It’s through this China State Intellectual Property Office appearance that we learned that OnePlus will likely call its devices the V Fold and V Flip.
Sharma explained that Chinese OEMs have already begun internal testing of “at least one” foldable device in multiple regions.

Aside from the recently discovered name, there hasn’t been much to nibble on when it comes to the OnePlus Fold. The company’s CEO and co-founder, Peter Lau, hinted at a folding hinge mechanism last summer. However, when it comes to what the device offers, there is only OnePlus’ parent company, his OPPO.
OPPO’s recently launched Find N2 offered consumers a 5.4-inch outer display that unfolds onto an immersive 7.1-inch AMOLED display. The high-end foldable device is powered by the previously used flagship SoC Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. OnePlus’ foldable devices may have very similar display sizes, but it might be worth considering that the recently launched Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 mobile platform is available instead.
Then there is the OnePlus V Flip, which is similar to the OPPO Find N2 Flip. The device was his Chinese OEM’s answer to Samsung’s Z Flip 4 and featured a largely similar design language but offered a larger, vertical secondary screen. OnePlus’ foldable clamshell could follow the parent company’s 6.8-inch display.
As of now, there’s no word on when these devices will hit the market, but given Samsung’s hold on foldable devices in the US, it would be nice to see another company jump into the ring. That’s it.
Facing our immediate future, expect to learn all about the OnePlus 11 flagship phones at the OnePlus Cloud 11 event on February 7. Also learn about the 11R and the OnePlus Pad. We don’t have high hopes for the leaked foldable device in the near future, but perhaps consumers will be treated to some kind of teaser about the upcoming device during the February event.
