Perhaps Today Chrome Will Let You Save To Your Network

Chrome 110 is supposed to be released today, but there is no sign of it yet. While most Chrome updates, and web browser updates in general, don’t get the attention they deserve, this particular update is one that many would like to see rolled out soon. This is because the current version of Chrome has a nasty bug that prevents files from being downloaded directly to his UNC path.

If you use Chrome, you may have noticed that system file warnings appear frequently, especially when you try to save a file to a network drive or a path to one of your cloud file shares. This bug flags these downloads as system files and displays an error if you try to save directly to a UNC path. It’s fine if you download it locally and copy it all over, but for devices with limited storage such as Chromebooks, this may not be a good workaround.

Alphabet was inclusive of this bug as it doesn’t only affect Windows machines. Chrome will update automatically, but if this is a bug, check its update button regularly throughout the day as it will be fixed today.
