verdict
If you’ve ever been frustrated trying to load your dishes in the dishwasher and it wouldn’t fit, you’ll love the Samsung DW60A8060BB’s little tweak. From the bottom wine glass rack perfect for long-stemmed glasses to the clever cutlery tray, this dishwasher takes the hassle out of everyday life. It’s also relatively cheap to run, and one of my minor complaints is that the automatic mode didn’t address the most stubborn stains, even though there were stronger cleaning options.

prologue
It’s often the little things that make using the dishwasher frustrating. For example, the top rack does not fit the wine glasses, or the empty cutlery rack is annoying.
The Samsung DW60A8060BB all-in-one dishwasher is designed to eliminate these frustrations, with neat touches, app controls, and low running costs.
design and function
- Can handle tall wine glasses
- clever cutlery tray
- lots of flexible space
The Samsung DW60A8060BB is an all-in-one model, so it needs a door that fits in your kitchen cupboard. Luckily, an integrated dishwasher doesn’t lose space compared to a free-standing one, and the Samsung DW60A8060BB has a few neat tricks that make it easier to use than many of its competitors. I have.
First, there is the question of what to do with tall wine glasses. In many dishwashers only the shortest glasses will fit in the middle rack. However, Samsung added a wine glass holder behind the bottom shelf. This allows you to store larger items. Sure, it saves space on plates and such, but if you have a tall glass like the one I use for testing, it’s better than balancing precariously. , it is recommended to reserve space for these glasses.

Otherwise, it works like normal business for this dishwasher bottom rack, with folding tines providing more space for larger items such as pans when plates and bowls are scarce.

Top rack is height adjustable. Most of the time it needs to be higher to prevent the waterarm from hitting the plate below. This is easily done using the handles on the side and does not require the rack to be removed to change the height.

This rack features a cleverly adjustable glass holder that moves several tines to grab your cup or wine glass. There’s a handy image showing the setup and it holds the more delicate items in place. There are folding tines for

I love the best cutlery racks because I think it cleans the knives and forks better than the basket. Luckily, Samsung has implemented a clever design into this dishwasher, and the top rack has his two cutlery trays that lift easily. That’s the best of both worlds.

This model has a standard detergent dispenser that can hold pods, liquids, or powder detergents. In addition, there are rinse aids filled in the usual way.

The controls are located on the top of this dishwasher. Automatic is the default selection and the dishwasher senses how dirty the items are and applies the appropriate program.
If you want more control, you can use other programs such as Eco (great for saving energy), Intensive (dirty items), Express, Self Clean and Baby Care. To save money when the load is halved, only the items on the bottom racks can be cleaned.

After selecting a wash program, the LCD will show the wash time. You can’t see the screen while the dishwasher door is closed, but this counts down during the cycle.

But I like the blue light that illuminates the floor. This provided a visual indication that the dishwasher was working and prevented us from accidentally opening the door in the middle of the cycle.

Since this is a Samsung machine, the DW60A8060BB works with SmartThings. The remote control gives you all the options you get on the control panel, plus special features such as baby care (to rinse and dry hand-washed items without detergent) and plastics (to reduce the risk of items melting). A downloadable cycle of unique items is provided.
I honestly found the control panel easier to use, but the alerts when the cycle was complete were helpful.
performance
- low running cost
- You can clean well in intensive mode
- Automatic mode didn’t work for the dirtiest dishes
I put the Samsung DW60A8060BB through all the usual tests and preloaded the machine with an array of dirty items, including a coffee-stained cup, a stained glass of red wine, and a plate of dried mac and cheese. – A glass bowl used to make scrambled eggs in the microwave.
I started with an automated program to see how this works. According to my measurements, this cycle has a running cost of 32.67p, which is very competitive. This worked for most of my tests. With a coffee mug, dried residue was removed.

My wine glass on the rack below had the red wine removed and the glass was sparkling.
Leftover cheese on the mac and cheese was also completely removed and the plate was found to be clean as well.

Dirty egg bowls, however, were another issue, and the dishwasher couldn’t touch this stain, leaving a lot of residue behind.

To test it again, I put the dishwasher on high power mode and ran another cycle. This time, the running cost jumped to 57.19p per cycle, much higher. However, the results turned out to be good, and although most of the eggs were gone, I had to hand finish the clean final pieces.

Most dishwashers can’t get perfect results in this test.Only the LG DF455HMS freestanding model worked using the steam option. However, that cycle costs 71p, which is quite high.
According to my measurements, it runs fine in eco mode most days and only costs 30p to run. This is a good result and highlights why this dishwasher has a B rating.

final thoughts
If you want a fully automatic machine, the Miele G 7160 SCVi AutoDos is worth considering. It can automatically set temperatures and cycles as well as auto-dosing detergents.
What you get with the Samsung DW60A8060BB is a very flexible dishwasher that fits tall wine glasses well and has the best cutlery rack I’ve used. Its automatic program struggled with the most stubborn stains, but a vigorous cycle fixed it. As long as you don’t have heavily soiled items on a regular basis, this is a great integrated dishwasher.
