if you look at all Bridgerton In one day (there’s no other way to experience it), you might be dazzled by the rush of Daphne and Simon’s whirlwind romance. You may have fainted in the future.
But there are some notes.
Daphne and Simon Hastings are not #goals. They’re the prime example of couples sweeping deeper issues under the rug so they can maintain their appearance and focus on the good parts of their rich and complicated relationship.
The bottom line is their lack of communication. What episode was the central conflict between Daphne and Simon, the fact that they simply misunderstand each other? Simon stops the ruse, but he doesn’t tell Daphne why, which upsets her. In, they have to tell each other over and over again that they love each other. Enough for that epic and seemingly endless sex scene.
It’s okay for Phoebe and Simon to have a lot of sex, but talking occasionally is probably their best interest!

Communication is also the root of their biggest problem with Simon refusing to have children due to his father’s abuse. Or, later in that same episode, when Daphne asked to marry and Simon suddenly accepted! Later, during that endless sexual montage, could he have at least felt a small urge to tell the truth? It is

For that, and I really hate having to bring this up. Daphne and Simon’s sex life interferes with the love they so passionately describe. . Remember, it was Simon who told Daphne about masturbation in the first place.she won’t learn how babies are made(opens in new window) Until she regularly engages in baby-making activities! Based on Episode 6, these two learn it through trial and error, so they don’t talk much about what they love. Verbal communication is not welcome in the Duke and Duchess bedrooms (or libraries, gazebos… basically within a 50 foot radius at any time).
That’s all fine while they’re having some very hot consensually sexy time, but they end up having a hard time talking when their relationship desperately needs it. Dating is undeniably steamy, but it’s often the case of couples choosing to return to their known physical comforts as a way to avoid more intense emotional arguments.
Daphne gets married without knowing how babies are made. This is patriarchy!!

Clearly, Simon’s reluctance to share the whole truth is part of a deeply embedded trauma from his childhood. It was time to stop sitting on the information that tells all the truth and puts everything in place. It’s worth discussing and analyzing, even for us, but this never happens. He only magically changed his mind after one conversation in the finale. It has apparently been postponed until this point in order to maintain the confrontation.

In other words, we could have wrapped that shit up in a bow by episode 6 and spent the rest of the season having Benedict kissing boys. society. but there are eight Bridgerton Because it’s a book, there’s nothing that the upcoming season can’t fix.
