Rowing machines are one of the things that many fitness-minded people want because of their high price and large size. RowBro is designed to address these issues, is ultra-compact, and should end up selling for just US$599.
Designed by the Swiss startup of the same name, the aluminum-bodied RowBro is currently being targeted for a Kickstarter campaign. It’s roughly the size of a microwave oven and reportedly weighs only 26 pounds (12 kg) and leans because it doesn’t have the long steel frame of his traditional rowing machine.
Users place the RowBro on the doorway floor, extend and bolt the included telescoping bar (which also works as a stand-alone pull-up bar), and prop it up within the door frame. RowBro’s Folding Guide He then attaches and extends a rail, places a polyurethane wheeled seat over that rail, sits down, puts his feet on the footpads, grabs the handle and starts rowing.
Loubro
An iOS/Android app that comes with a Bluetooth-linked mobile device allows users to track their workout time, calories burned, split times, and stroke rate. The RowBro is also claimed to be relatively quiet in use, as it utilizes an adjustable magnetoresistance system.
According to its designers, the relatively soft wheels should not scratch most floors. The “ride” will be as smooth as its floor, as opposed to its beams.
Assuming RowBro reaches production, you can buy it for a pledge of €275 (approximately US$300). As previously mentioned, the planned retail price is $599. The video below shows it.
