Women in CyberSecurity (WiCyS) is inviting participants for its Measuring Inclusion Workshops. This is a new program designed to identify and remove barriers in the cybersecurity industry that prevent women from hiring, hiring, retaining and promoting at the same rate as men.
WiCyS joins forces with Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) firm Aleria to understand why female representation in cybersecurity isn’t where it should be and how that can be changed That is why we are launching this investigation.
WiCyS is inviting employees (men, women, allies) to sign up for one of its hour-long workshops on February 7th.th and ninethWiCyS and Aleria will build on the findings from the workshop to create a benchmark study, State of Women’s Inclusion in Cybersecurity.
“WiCyS is proud to invest time and energy to further explore the state of women’s inclusion in cybersecurity,” said WiCyS Executive Director Linda Dom.
“Our focus as a nonprofit is to listen to our community and build programs that fill the gaps that currently hinder the recruitment, retention, or career advancement of women. Our attention is important for the future of cybersecurity.We continue to work to identify gender disparities and overcome related challenges. We need participation from people and advocates,” she said.
At each workshop, participants will have the opportunity to share their workplace experiences using Aleria’s online platform built with a focus on privacy, confidentiality and anonymity.
The ability to build a sense of security and trust is key to Aleria’s approach to measuring inclusiveness. Alelia or others cannot track or identify workshop participants who choose to participate in the activity. Also, the experience will not be shared with anyone unless the participant specifically authorizes Alelia.
Paolo Gaudiano, Chief Scientist at Aleria, said: “This collaboration will not only provide valuable data and insight into the experiences that impact individuals working in cybersecurity roles, but will also provide this novel and innovative way to quantify the impact of diversity and inclusion in the workplace. It helps raise awareness of the approach.”
Interested participants can sign up for one of four free workshops. February 7 at 11:00 am (CT). February 9 at 10:00 am CT. or February 9 at 4:00 pm (CT). The State of Women’s Inclusion in Cybersecurity report will be released on March 15th.
