Road trips in electric vehicles may cost slightly more this year. On Thursday morning, Electrify America notified its user base that it will be raising prices starting March 6th.
“While we have worked hard to maintain our current pricing, rising operating and energy costs have necessitated a price adjustment,” the company wrote in an email to customers. We will continue to maintain simple, uniform pricing across the country.This alignment allows us to maintain our commitment to driving electric vehicle (EV) adoption and the future of electric mobility.”
Currently, guests (that is, those who do not have an Electrify America account) and Pass members pay $0.43 per kWh in states that allow energy billing. This is an 11.6% increase from next month to $0.48 per kWh.
Electrify America members subscribing to the $4/month Pass+ level see a 16% increase in cost per kWh from $0.31 to $0.36.
So charging a 66 kWh battery pack from 10% to 80% in a Chevrolet Volt costs $22.18 for regular Electrify America members and $16.63 for Pass+ members adding 46.2 kWh to the battery pack.
In states where Electrify America must bill by the minute, Pass members and guests charging 1-90 kW will pay $0.19 per minute, a 19% increase from the current $0.16 per minute . For a more powerful charging session up to 350 kW, the cost increased by almost 16% from $0.32 to $0.36 per minute.
By the minute state Pass+ members, on the other hand, will see a 20 percent increase from $0.12 to $0.15 per minute charging to 90 kW, and an almost 21 percent increase from $0.24 to $0.29 per minute charging to 350 kW.
As a result, a 30-minute fast charge below 90 kW costs $5.70 for regular members, $4.50 for Pass+ members, $10.80 for regular members, and $8.70 for Pass+ members for charging up to 350 kW. .
Earlier this week, Electrify America announced that it will install 1,000 fast chargers at 200 TravelCenters of America locations over the next five years.
