See that nifty prompt at the bottom of the screen in the image above? This is the Google Fast Pairing prompt, and until now it only appeared when pairing brand new earbuds or other Bluetooth devices. There was no prompt.
But now, thanks to some advances in Google’s Fast Pair (opens in new tab) technology, best android phone (opens in new tab) Everything takes seconds to set up and you can bring all your old apps, messages, photos and even settings to your new phone. However, this is the first time I’ve seen this on a new Android phone so far.
Samsung recently rolled out this technology (opens in new tab) The Nearby Devices Scanning app and its latest OS update, One UI 5.1, includes this feature for setting up a brand new phone like the Galaxy S23 when you take it out of the box. (opens in new tab).
That’s enough background. what’s so easy Here’s how the setup went.
- I turned on the phone for the first time.
- I accepted the prompts that appeared on my old phone to set up my Galaxy S23 Ultra.
- I tapped wireless transfer on my Galaxy S23 Ultra to pull everything out of my old phone and transfer it to my new phone.
- Tap Next to start the process.
So basically, if you don’t need to turn the phone on first, this is just three taps away.that is Large scale It’s an improvement over previous setup flows that often involved having to search for an old phone over Bluetooth, entering some kind of code, or something more complicated. If that didn’t work, I had to pull out a USB-C cable and connect the two phones.
As is the case with most other types of electronic devices, reducing the time and difficulty of setting up a new device is key to making a good first impression on people. First impressions are everything, and a bad first impression negatively impacts the experience and how you think about your device.
