We’ve seen some great flagship smartphones over the past few years, but the big name brands have mostly played sophisticated games with their recent launches. Before we get into our in-depth review, we’re ready to take a quick look at the smallest member of the trio, the Galaxy S23.

Our review unit comes in a new lavender color, which is a really subtle mix of purple and pink.As expected, the Galaxy S23 doesn’t look all that different from last year’s Galaxy S22. It’s hard to tell which is which, if any.
Galaxy S22 and S23 side by side
Flip them over and you’ll see a new camera design that brings three aluminum rings for the lens instead of the S22’s integrated camera island.
Phone handling is excellent with a lightweight construction of 168 grams and aluminum sides. The S23’s camera may look unchanged on paper with 50MP main, 12MP ultrawide and 10MP 3x telephoto modules, but compared to the S22’s 8K@24fps, it delivers 8K video at 30fps. You can now shoot. There’s also a sharper 12MP selfie cam on the front.

The S23’s 6.1-inch display is pretty much the same as last year’s, a dynamic AMOLED 2X panel with FHD+ resolution and a variable 120Hz refresh rate. The new bit here is the Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2, which tests peak brightness up to 1,750 nits in automatic mode.

Samsung has finally answered the prayers of its international customers by adopting the latest Qualcomm chips for all markets, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. Good performance is expected here and it will be interesting to see how the small form factor handles heat dissipation and throttling. , but the S23+ and Ultra both start at 256 GB.
Elsewhere, the new 3,900 mAh battery should lead to improved durability coupled with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset. Samsung has also added the latest his 6GHz Wi-Fi 6E standard and Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity to keep up with the times.

That’s all for the overview of the Galaxy S23. A detailed review is now available.
