Weekly deals: the best smartphone deals from the US, the UK, Germany and India

This week has been pretty quiet, with the exception of Wednesday’s Galaxy Unpacked event. There were a few other announcements, but most of the companies kept Samsung at bay. Samsung launched the Galaxy S23 series this week and started accepting pre-orders. Shipments are scheduled for a few weeks from now (although some units may be available sooner).

If the Galaxy is too expensive, the rugged Motorola Edge 30 Pro is an option. In the US, it is usually marketed under the name “Edge+”. That his Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 (non-plus) is coming from his early 2022 and is still fast enough. And a 6.7-inch 144Hz 10-bit display (FHD+) makes this a sleeper gaming phone.

Anyone want a Sony Xperia 1 IV and haven’t bought one yet? Well, if there are, this is for them, the 8/512GB unit is $1,200. And it’s still the only 4K-class 120Hz AMOLED display on the market (besides its predecessor, of course).

If all of the above prices daunt you, it’s a sub-$200 5G smartphone, including Moto’s price. This unpretentious phone has a 6.6-inch FHD+ display (90Hz), a microSD slot, a 3.5mm jack, plus 5G and Wi-Fi 5 for blazing fast tethering. Also a large capacity battery of 5,000mAh.

On the lower end of Samsung’s offerings is the Galaxy M33. It’s budget-friendly, has 5G connectivity (thanks to the Exynos 1280 chipset), and has a 6.6-inch 120Hz FHD+ display for browsing and light gaming (although this LCD, but no Super AMOLED here). The 5,000mAh battery also lasts quite a while on a single charge.

Next are two honor phones. The Honor 70 costs twice as much as the X8, but it has 5G (Snapdragon 778G+), a 6.67-inch OLED display running at 120Hz, a high-quality camera (54+50MP) and a 4,800mAh battery and 66W high speed. Charging is possible.

The Honor X8 has a similarly sized screen (IPS LCD) with a refresh rate of 90Hz. This is his 4G only with Snapdragon 480 and the camera setup is nothing to write home about. The 4,000mAh battery is also slower at 22.5W, but half the price of the Honor 70.

Germany

Amazon has lowered the prices of two Pixel 7 models. I’ve linked the 128GB version below, but you can get the 256GB unit instead. However, those discounts are slightly smaller.

The Honor Magic4 Lite doesn’t have the great camera of its more premium siblings, but it’s one of the cheaper 5G phones, with a spacious 6.81-inch FHD+ 120Hz IPS LCD, plus 66W fast charging. A 4,800mAh battery is available.

Not everyone liked the new Moto Midranger, according to last week’s poll. Some older models are offered at better prices, such as the Moto G42 slashed to his €150. It doesn’t support 5G, but it has a 6.4-inch FHD+ AMOLED display and costs less than the Moto G13 (it doesn’t support 5G either).

If you really want to go cheap, the Moto E22 runs full Android 12 and costs €100. That’s 20 euros cheaper than the Moto E13 with Android 13 Go Edition. At this price, it drops to an HD+ display, but even the new G53 he doesn’t go for FHD+ resolution.

Next up are the Poco M5 and M5s. The ‘s’ model is €45 more expensive, but has a 6.43-inch AMOLED display, an 8MP ultra-wide camera, and a 5,000mAh battery with 33W fast charging. His regular M5 model instead has a 90Hz 6.58-inch IPS LCD, but no ultra-wide camera and only 18W charging.

Both phones have FHD+ displays, both are 4G only (M5s is Helio G95, M5 is G99, but M5s has an extra 2 GB of RAM), both have microSD slots and 3.5mm headphone jacks is equipped with

For a slightly cheaper price than the Poco M5, you can get the Realme 9i instead. It uses the Snapdragon 680 chipset and has faster 33W charging, but is otherwise pretty similar (including a microSD slot and his 3.5mm jack).

Finally, some watches. Amazon sells the Apple Watch Series 8 (aluminum version) for a little less than Apple itself. The version linked below is the 41mm GPS model, but the 41mm GPS+Cellular is available for €535. If you want the larger 45mm model, the GPS version costs €475 and the GPS+Cellular costs €575.

The Huawei Watch GT 3 SE is much cheaper and has much longer battery life (up to two weeks), but smart features are more limited. Keep track of numbers.

India

Tecno’s impressive Phantom X2 Pro is available at a hefty discount. Mind you, this comes with his 50MP 1/1.3″ main camera and its own 50MP 65mm (2.5x) pop-up tele camera and his 13MP ultra wide angle. The popup camera is one of the best portrait cameras we’ve tested so far.

Phantom X2 is also available. It features more traditional camera settings (64MP main, 13MP ultra wide, no telephoto) and has 8GB of RAM instead of 12GB. Other than that, it’s the same as the Pro, including a 6.8-inch 120Hz AMOLED display (FHD+), a Dimensity 9000 chipset, and a 5,160mAh battery with 45W wired charging.

Last week we covered the Realme Narzo 50 Pro, and since then the price has dropped by Rs 2,000 so it felt like a good reason to mention it again. Dimensity 920, 48+8+2MP camera, 5,000mAh battery with 33W charging.

Amazon is promoting the Oppo A74 5G, A77 and A77s. To make things even more confusing, the A77 is priced the same as the A74 5G. A quick comparison on why I chose the older Oppo A74 5G in 2021 has 5G (obviously), an FHD+ display, a better chipset and an ultra-wide camera. , we know which of the three is preferable.

Finally, the Xiaomi Redmi 10 Power offers a Snapdragon 680 chipset (4G) and a 6,000mAh battery. With a little more money, you can probably get a better phone (see above), but if you’re stuck, this isn’t a bad choice.It has an HD+ display and runs the old Android 11 software. Note that
