‘The Last of Us’ episode 4: Who is Kathleen?

yellow jacket Melanie Lynskey of the royal family Last of Us, and she’s already killed it — literally. She kills the doctor head-on in this episode, so if she wasn’t scared of her character before, she definitely should be now.

Lynskey plays Kathleen, leader of a revolutionary group in Kansas City, Missouri. She spends most of Episode 4, titled “Please Hold My Hand,” searching for Henry (Lamar Johnson) and interrogating people who may know his whereabouts. The name Henry will be familiar to those who have played the game. Last of UsKathleen presents further mysteries.

Kathleen is a brand new character created for. Last of Us TV program. However, she still has roots in the Pittsburgh section of the game that the show replaced with Kansas City.

When Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey) arrive in Pittsburgh in the game, they encounter a group of violent hunters. While fleeing the Hunters, Joel and Ellie meet fellow survivors Sam (Kevon Woodard) and Henry, and they team up. We hear, but we never actually meet the person.

Kathleen’s hunter shares some similarities with the game’s hunter. Both groups reversed his FEDRA militaristic rule in the city’s quarantine zone and have since turned to hunting outsiders. Aesthetically, Shaw recreates Hunter’s infamous “run” Humvee from the game. Phrases such as “people” are scribbled.

With characters like Kathleen, the show could get a little more feel for the inner workings of the Hunters. I’m a civilian. We also know that Kathleen specifically wants to find Henry, and believes that Henry played a key role in her FEDRA arrest and subsequent murder of her brother.

This storyline marks a departure from the game. There, Henry was a survivor from Hartford traveling through Pittsburgh. In the show, he seems to have lived in Kansas City QZ before Hunter took over. We’ll have to wait until episode 5 to find out why we fell in love with them.

What does Kathleen add to the world Last of Us?

Last of Us Co-creators Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann have stated that they only deviate from the game when the deviance is better. We’ve seen the rewards of that deviation in the Bill (Nick Offerman) and Frank (Murray Bartlett) storylines, and now we’re ready to see it in Kathleen and Hunter.

With Kathleen, we learn more about hunters and their motivations. Last of UsApocalypse. Mazin and Druckmann frequently discuss Love’s role in the show on HBO’s official show. Last of Us Podcast: How does love inspire us to action in times of crisis? Bill and Frank’s love for each other gives them hope. Joel’s love for his late daughter Sarah (Nico Parker) keeps him estranged from much of the world. In Kathleen’s case, her affection for her brother drives her need for revenge. This has horrible consequences.

The Kansas City Hunters may have freed QZ, but their own ambush and pursuit of their collaborators is a reminder of FEDRA brutality. Is Kathleen’s quest for revenge simply continuing the cycle of violence that has become all too common in this world? Are there moments when you believe she’s gone too far? But is it worth it?

We’ll have to wait until episode 5 to see how the conflict between Kathleen and Henry will be resolved (and what role Joel and Ellie will have to play). bad news? Our hero is fighting a militia in an unfamiliar city. Good news? Get more Melanie Lynskey. Everyone wins! (Except FEDRA)
