Questions from everyone’s mouth after episode 4 Last of Us “Who’s Henry?”
You certainly hear that name often from Kansas City revolutionary leader Kathleen (Melanie Lynskey). However, she doesn’t actually meet Henry (Lamar Johnson) until the episode’s final moments. That’s when he and his brother Sam (Kevon Woodard) hold Ellie (Bella Ramsey) and Joel (Pedro Pascal) at gunpoint. Except for that brief glimpse, Henry remains a mystery.
“The Last of Us” Episode 5 is out soon. Find out why and how to watch it.
Even when we’re talking about Henry on HBO Last of Us On the podcast, show co-creator Craig Mazin deliberately remained vague:
“There’s this guy named Henry. I don’t know who he is. I know that. [Kathleen and her Hunters] Looking for him, we know that Henry has a brother named Sam. I don’t know why they matter, but I just know that Kathleen is ready to dump the entire Revolutionary Army out there in order to find them and bring some justice.
There may be no clear information about who Henry is, but the episode throws in some clues. why Henry is very important to Kathleen. In her first scene where she interrogates her doctor who gave birth to her, Kathleen wonders if she finds herself standing in the same cell where her brother was beaten to death. She later said she was looking for FEDRA collaborators, likely residents of the quarantine zone to whom she passed FEDRA information about revolutionary activity.
This makes it likely that Henry was a FEDRA collaborator and involved in the capture and murder of Kathleen’s brother. However, given that Kathleen says Henry “will not starve Sam,” it’s possible that his actions were meant to protect his own brother.
All these possibilities are Henry’s Last of Us game.
In the game, Henry and Sam are Hartford survivors traveling through Pittsburgh. They meet Ellie and Joel while fleeing hunters who want to kill them and take their supplies. The four team up and try to get out of town alive.
Meanwhile, the show sets up Henry and Sam as longtime residents of Kansas City QZ. Additionally, they have a personal connection with Kathleen (herself a show-only character). Seeing as Henry, Sam, and Kathleen seem stuck for at least another episode, we can trust that Episode 5 will reveal Kathleen’s revenge against Henry.
Based on her deep-seated hatred for him, there is no doubt that their confrontation is likely to explode and cause emotional damage.
