Indestructible Toyota Hilux makes indefectible go-anywhere micro RV

Toyota has a reputation for building the toughest, do-anything off-roaders of any other company on the planet. The Toyota Hilux may be the toughest of them all. The Forbidden Fruit of the United States, the Hilux has made a name for itself in many parts of the world and has performed nobly on some of the toughest journeys ever conceived. It was a natural choice for an overland rig, and Japan’s Direct Cars Co has turned it into an impressive all-terrain RV. His 4-passenger BR75 camper truck combines the all-world capability of a Hilux with a neatly integrated pop-up microhome with two beds, a private tailgate mud/shower room and a spacious dining lounge .

someone who looked at me seriously top gear We know we weren’t the ones who designated the Hilux as indestructible. A team of three saw the red single torture his cab multiple times before limping away on his own and declared it for themselves.

“It has been drowned, set on fire, crashed, beaten, dropped from the air and still going. The most indestructible car in the world, a Toyota Hilux pickup.” top gear Summarize online.

The Toyota Hilux’s immortality worked well when venturing off the beaten path. It has a glorious history of intrepid travel, such as the Arctic Expedition and the Dakar Rally, breaking with civilization and never attempted by a small car. As such, it is well equipped for overnight trips and overland trips to Japan’s most difficult locations.

Direct Cars Co., Ltd.

Instead of developing a slide-in pickup camper for the Hilux, Direct Cars mounts the camper module to the exposed chassis behind the five-passenger cab. Officially called the BR75 SUV Adventure Camper, “SUV” stands for the quiet and private space provided by the camper’s design with a full pass-through between the driver’s cab and living area.

The BR75 is noteworthy not only because it is a Hilux camper. We often see truck campers with either pop-up roofs or high alcove sleeper roofs, but not both. Direct Cars takes full advantage of the alcove his roof to place an overcab double bed that can be lowered, plus a pop-top in the back to open up standing headroom and add ventilation. Travelers seem to be able to camp with the top closed for full hardwall protection, or open the pop-up top for more space and enhanced air circulation.

Direct Cars doesn’t advertise the pop-up roof area bed option, but it doesn’t need to because the dual bench dining lounge that occupies the center of the camper floor quickly transforms into a second double bed. His BR75 space for all his 4 or 5 in the track.

Direct Cars laid out the BR75 more like a hotel room than a fully equipped RV, skipping the full kitchen in favor of a split bathroom/living area space that includes an electric refrigerator. The layout won’t appeal to everyone, but it leaves room for one of the best bathroom designs we’ve seen in a midsize pickup camper. Also accessible through the gate, there is a private four-walled compartment for shower and vanity. With a full-size shower floor pan installed, the space acts as a mudroom, allowing you to load wet, muddy gear from the outside without messing up the interior of the camper. Since it’s stretched, the gear can also be hose-hung inside or outside.

The shower room has a vanity with a sink and a separate faucet, but no mention of the toilet. However, the shower room can easily double as a private toilet room as it’s simple and affordable enough to carry a portable cassette toilet around the space.

The BR75 also includes a 200-Ah lithium-ion battery, 1,500-W inverter, and 200-W solar panel to power portable refrigerators, LED lighting, water pumps, internal and external power outlets, and more. A touchscreen control panel provides centralized information and switching for all electrical equipment. A space heater is also included and air conditioning is available.
