Bjarke Ingels, Founder and Creative Director of BIG, explains: “Open seams and gaping corners allow the green space to rise from the ground to the sky, leaving a wedge of outdoor gardens and terraces for the lives of those who live and work there. Simplicity and charming openness – the two architectural towers are firmly rooted in the urban values that underpin Shenzhen, a vertical modern city of 1,000 parks.”
The vast greenery on the exterior of the skyscraper also matches the green design. Rainwater is collected and used for irrigation systems. In addition, solar panels will be integrated outside the office tower. Residential Tower units also feature operable ventilation to keep the room at a comfortable temperature.
The Qianhai Prisma Towers project was selected following an international architectural competition and construction is set to begin in 2025. This is actually his second major design for the city for his BIG, following the Shenzhen Energy Mansion.
