The Galaxy S23 Ultra surpasses its predecessor’s durability rating by 18 hours. But arguably more important, the new phone outperforms its predecessor in each on-screen test as well. I achieved 4 hours of web browsing and 5 hours of video playback time. Considering the S23 Ultra runs on the same battery capacity, these are impressive results.
But more than that, the Galaxy S23 Ultra is competitive with the Apple iPhone 14 Pro Max. This is something Samsung’s big phones haven’t been able to do for years. In the call test, the Galaxy scored his 5-hour higher endurance rating, outlasting his iPhone by 12 hours. But in on-screen tests, the 14 Pro Max beats the Galaxy S23 Ultra.
Paper charging has not improved. We saw an improvement in charging speed compared to the Galaxy S22 Ultra, but it’s still technically capped at 45W.
With the faster 45W Samsung adapter, the Galaxy S23 Ultra achieved 68% in the 30-minute test, an 8% increase over its predecessor. However, both completed the 0-100% charge test in 59 minutes.
Interestingly, with the slower 25W Samsung adapter, the Galaxy S22 Ultra was faster in both the 30 minute test and the 0-100% test.
