There are two types of Super Bowl spectators: those who watch the game and those who watch the halftime show.
But every once in a while, a highly emotional halftime show takes place that certainly overshadows the actual sporting event. You have the power to make, break, or activate (no pressure, Rihanna). These shows also light up the internet with memes and takes (see sharks on the left).

Prince (2007)
The Indianapolis Colts and Chicago Bears braved downpours and high winds in Super Bowl XLI (the Colts won 29-17).But Prince battled the same elements while playing raw electric guitaris a rather metallic move, given that water and electricity are a dangerous combination.

Wait, was Coldplay headlining the 2016 halftime show? We forgot because Beyoncé’s special guest appearance completely stole the show. Funk” burst onto the stage, and Beyoncé stormed the field with “Formation” with perfectly synchronized backup dancers.
Wearing a military-style set-up that’s a nod to Michael Jackson’s halftime show outfit, Bey strutted on stage and (sorry) was killed in a dance-off with Bruno Mars. Coldplay’s Chris Martin Even he seemed to realize that this was Beyoncé’s moment when he stepped back forward.
Katy Perry (2015)
(Stefon(opens in new tab) Voice) This program is allFrom the 2015 halftime show, the left shark may be the most memorable. No, but Katy Perry put on a great show too. Perry came riding a lion and she handed “I Kissed a Girl” to Lenny Kravitz singing.
The shark on the left then captivated the internet with his brace dance moves.Through it all, Perry brought strong energy and sang impressively live. By the time Perry brought in Missy Elliot, who performed “Work It” and “Lose Control,” we knew this halftime show was one for the record books. He capped it all off by singing “Fireworks” when he was lifted into the throne. Bravo.
Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, Kendrick Lamar, 50 Cent (2022)
In a comment on the official recording, one YouTuber said, “This isn’t just a concert, it’s also a history lesson,” which sums it up pretty well. Rapper and producer Dr. Dre’s influence on hip-hop cannot be overstated. He is known for launching the careers of Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, 50 Cent, Anderson .Paak, Kendrick Lamar and many more. At halftime in 2022, his show brought his famous friends to the stage for legendary performances.
“History Lesson” began with Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg performing “Next Episode” and “California Love”. The show played out the West Coast vs. East Coast rivalry, with New York native 50 Cent rapping “In Da Club.” hanging upside downMary J. Blige then sang “Family Affair” and “No More Pain,” followed by Kendrick Lamar’s powerful rendition of “mAd City” and “Alright,” and Eminem’s “Lose Yourself.” It gave everyone goosebumps. A perfect tribute to 2Pac. The show ended with everyone on stage performing “Still DRE”. It was the perfect closing to celebrate Dre and a historic hip-hop moment.
Diana Ross (1996)
Fireworks, massive dance routines and costume changes are a must for modern halftime shows. But not only was Diana Ross the first to do it, her performances still hold up today. and performed a medley of her biggest hits with her signature smile. It sprawled out and climbed onto a terrifyingly high platform. Then the stage came down and she covered a banger version of Gloria Gaynor’s “I Will Survive.”
Up until this point, Ross’ performance has been solid, but what happened next proves she’s the ultimate diva queen. Ross casually said, “Oh my ride is coming” and was literally picked up by a helicopter. She sat on the edge of the helicopter, her legs hanging out of her open helicopter door, and waved at the crowd pushing her away. That’s how you create an exit.
