We hope the arrival of the Xperia 1 V is imminent. It’s still possible that mobile phones will make an appearance at this year’s MWC in Barcelona. Meanwhile, leaks about Sony’s next flagship are starting to pile up.
The bottom line is that Sony won’t be changing much about its iconic design. Well, rumors and a recently leaked photo of the back of the phone.
From the looks of it, Sony is planning to tweak the Xperia 1 V’s camera island. Comparing this camera island to his Xperia 1 IV, we can immediately see that the ToF camera and RGB IR sensor are gone. This leaves us with three large sensors (which appear to be larger than the 1 IV), the bottom of which houses the periscope camera. Whereas the LED flash was on and off the island on last year’s phone, it’s moved to the island on the next model.
Sony Xperia 1 V render
The new render set also includes what appear to be hardware specs. According to them, the Xperia 1 V will measure 161.0 x 69.3 x 8.5 mm compared to the Xperia 1 IV’s 165 x 71 x 8.2 mm. Sources claim that the phone will retain the same 6.5-inch flat display and likely maintain the same 21:9 aspect ratio. Looking at all these measurements, we can expect the Xperia 1 V’s display bezels to be noticeably slimmer.
Reportedly, the Xperia 1 V will offer a 12MP main camera and a 12MP periscope telephoto just like its predecessor. That ultrawide will reportedly be upgraded from his 12MP on the current model to a 48MP unit. Front – Xperia 1 V should hold 12MP selfies.
Previous rumors have suggested that the Xperia 1 V will be based on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, which also makes a lot of sense. It might be the thinnest smartphone to rock Qualcomm’s flagship chip. So we can only expect some serious attention to cooling from Sony.
