Bike repair stands are certainly useful, but they’re pretty cumbersome to take on a road trip or set up in a small apartment. Hanger Connect offers a more compact alternative as it simply clamps onto whatever is at hand.
Manufactured by Arizona-based startup Altangle, the Hangar Connect consists of an anodized aluminum shaft with heavy-duty aluminum clamps on each end. One of these clamps grabs a bike seat post, the other grabs a railing, sign, van ladder, or anything else that’s strong enough and stable.
Each clamp has a maximum opening of 2.7 inches (69 mm) and can be rotated on the shaft for vertical or horizontal mounting. A locking pin holds it firmly in that orientation.
Once the clamp is in place, the user tightens by turning the handle. A grippy thermoplastic rubber insert keeps the clamp jaws from scratching the bike or supporting surface.

The entire Hangar Connect reportedly weighs 3 pounds (1.4 kg) and is designed for use on bikes weighing up to 55 pounds (25 kg). It’s available now from his website at Altangle and costs $225.
