Amine Skalli has been recruiting for the team for 10 years, 4 of them as technical recruiters. In her last startup, he relied solely on outbound her recruiting. However, after testing various applicant tracking systems (ATS), we found that they tended to lack key features such as automation, workflows, filters, and metrics.
“We ended up switching to HubSpot. It improved, but it wasn’t enough. The tool didn’t meet our HR needs 100% of the time,” Skalli told TechCrunch. “So he decided to create HubSpot for recruiting.”
This “HubSpot for Recruitment” idea has blossomed into Crew, a Y Combinator-backed startup that has raised $2.45 million to date. Joined by Ruben Gueunoun, a former bicycle company where he started an e-commerce unit, Skalli says Build his ATS, which provides a way for recruiters to search for talent at scale as a team. It was made.
France-based Crew was launched in 2020 from Belgium-based startup studio eFounders before joining Y Combinator’s accelerator program. Rebel, Secret and Kima are among his seed-stage funds that contributed to the company’s first tranche.
“Recruiting is now a team effort and not just the responsibility of the recruiter. We need tools that are smart and user-friendly,” says Skalli. “Crew is his first ATS built like a customer relationship management (CRM) system to meet the growing needs of the recruitment industry.”
Crew combines outreach automation tools and databases with automation, “smart” reminders, and workflows. A Chrome extension allows recruiters to add talent directly from his Linkedin to the digital rolodex. You can also use our web page builder to host your company’s career pages, including custom logos, application forms, and more. On the back end, Crew provides tools for creating recruitment pipelines, scorecards, interview notes, advanced filtering, bulk actions, as well as dashboards for collecting and monitoring metrics such as outreach success. To do.
For the past 18 months, Crew has been in closed beta with 100 paying customers, Skalli said. (Skalli declined to share annual recurring revenue.) Outside funding is directed toward growth and increased go-to-market, as well as recruitment. Crew says he plans to double the size of his team of eight by the end of the year.
Despite competition from platforms such as Lever, Greenhouse, and Workable, Skalli believes Crew is doing well, and job cuts in the tech market highlight the benefits of applicant-tracking technology.
“More applicants mean that employers who are still hiring have to review more resumes when they post a job,” said Skalli. “A CRM can go a long way in sifting through these resumes quickly. And on the outbound side, it’s important to reach out before others to secure the best talent from this talent pool. For example, when Google, Meta, or Affirm hit layoffs, these teams are known to be the best. In that case, you need to act fast — a CRM can help a lot with that, too. ”
In the coming months, Skalli said, Crew will deepen its LinkedIn integration, improve its automation engine, enhance metrics and analytics, Productivity platforms such as Zapier, Docusign, Notion, and Gusto. The company also plans to integrate technologies like ChatGPT to explore how recruiters can personalize outreach emails, write job descriptions, and transcribe interview calls.
