Ram gets in the game with 1500 REV electric pickup

Ram is working hard to make up for lost time bringing the first electric pickup to market. After showing off his 1500 Revolution BEV concept at CES 2023 last month, he rolled a more sophisticated prototype 1500 REV pickup in front of the cameras this Sunday at Super Bowl LVII. Along with revealing the track to what promises to be the biggest US TV audience of the year, Ram has also opened up pre-orders on his website dedicated to him.

Lamb revealed the “1500 REV” name on Thursday, and we got our first look at the track itself on Super Bowl Sunday. Along the pickup family.

The 1500 REV remains a prototype design subject to change before its 2024 launch, but it has come a long way in just one month. While quite different from the ICE lineup, it’s far more traditional than last month’s concept, and it’s just as powerful, classic, and practical as a full-size pickup. “Tuning Fork” headlamps have slightly changed dimensions. The lower truck adopts a more traditional lower grille and bumper design.

The REV also has a traditional profile, ditching the extended cab of the Revolution BEV concept for a normal vertical cab/bed split. That could mean that the third-row jump seat is destined to retire to the parts bin of past concepts, but we’ll have to wait for its production debut to know for sure. Considering how uncomfortable those seats actually look, it’s not necessarily a big loss if it goes wrong.

The world got its first official look at the 1500 REV as part of a 60-second Super Bowl commercial called “Premature Electrification.” Football budget advertisement. The commercial also promoted RamRev.com. The site allows customers to learn more about the track, book a $100 refundable reservation to secure a line for pre-orders, and access additional “REV Insider+” membership information and benefits.

Ram hasn’t revealed an expected spec update for the 1500 REV, and actual production won’t happen until 2024. So it remains to be seen (or close) whether concept specs such as all-wheel steering and level 3 autonomy with voice-following are intact.

As part of the announcement, Ram brand CEO Mike Koval Jr. reiterated that it’s not the same details Ram said at CES. A portfolio of electrified solutions that will be added to our current award-winning line of trucks. We are on an exciting electrification journey where Ram customers It will beat the competition in charging time.”
