Samsung is putting the Galaxy Watch 5’s temperature sensor to good use thanks to a new partnership with Natural Cycles.

Both companies announced (opens in new tab) A collaboration on a new feature coming to smartwatches later this year that will allow users to track their menstrual cycles. Cycle Tracking leverages the Galaxy Watch 5’s infrared temperature sensor (a feature found on more Android smartwatches) and Natural Cycles proprietary algorithms to help users determine their fertility status.

This is the first time Natural Cycles has introduced its algorithm into a smartwatch. This is a big step in helping more users better track their menstrual cycle and fertility, and is important for those looking to plan or prevent a pregnancy. The company also partnered with Oura in 2022 to introduce an algorithm to the Oura ring that also utilizes temperature sensors.
