“The new Bing” is still invite-only, but you can preview how it works.
Since Microsoft announced a new and improved search engine integrated with OpenAI’s ChatGPT technology, some users have been granted early access to test it. There is now a waiting list to receive access as Microsoft rolls out Bing to more users in the coming weeks. But if you don’t want to know how it works, you can watch a live demo on your desktop.

How to access Bing Preview
The Bing home page shows a preview just below the search bar. The preview shows a conversational prompt: “I need to throw a dinner party for my vegetarian girlfriend’s 6 people. Can you suggest a 3-course menu with chocolate girlfriend’s dessert?”below the prompt[Try it]Click the button to see the generated answer.

Click the arrow next to the preview to explore other prompts, such as ‘I’m planning a trip for my anniversary in September. Where can I fly from London Heathrow in less than 3 hours?’ . and “arts and crafts ideas for toddlers using only cardboard boxes, plastic bottles, paper and string.” Click “Try It” to see your answers to these prompts.

Clicking on a prompt brings up a new page with traditional search results on the left and Bing’s AI chatbot responses on the right. Workout prompts give detailed step-by-step instructions for various ab and arm workouts, including how many sets and reps to perform, proper form instructions, and which muscles each exercise targets. Answers contain footnotes linking to sources of information.

It’s worth noting that crunches are included as part of the workout.
How to chat with Bing
At the end of the response, the preview suggests various follow-up questions, such as “Can you teach me how to do pushups?” Clicking on a question opens a chat window where Bing’s chatbot can answer your question in real time. Currently, clicking on a question only shows the demo conversation for the vegetarian dinner party menu question, but it gives you an idea of what to expect.

How is early access Bing testing going?
Unsurprisingly, early access users are testing the new Bing, and results posted online show mixed results. One user’s prompt was reportedly aggressive gaslighting(opens in new tab)seems to have gotten nervous at Bing when another person is present asked if you can feel(opens in new tab)So it’s not the friendly Bing you see in the preview. Regardless, it will be exciting to see where the technology goes in the coming weeks.
