Apple TV+ unveils ‘Tetris’ movie trailer • TechCrunch

Apple TV+ has released the first trailer for the so-called blockbuster movie Tetris, based on the origin story of the popular puzzle video game. The film will premiere at the South by Southwest (SXSW) Film Festival in March. After that, Apple will release it worldwide on his March 31st streaming service.

“Tetris,” starring “Black Bird” actor Taron Egerton, who plays American video game salesman Henk Rogers, tells the story of Rogers and his mission to secure the distribution rights to the game.

Rogers travels to the Soviet Union at the end of the Cold War to meet its inventor, Soviet software engineer Alexei Pajitnov (Nikita Efremov). However, according to communist law, the game belonged to the people of the Soviet Union, so Rogers had to negotiate directly with the Soviet regime to obtain the rights.

“When he tries to launch a game, he enters a dangerous web of lies and corruption behind the Iron Curtain,” Apple wrote in the film’s description.

According to The Tetris Company, Tetris has sold over 520 million copies since it was created in 1984.
