As the phone moved into the modern world of Android, the long-awaited software update never finally rolled out.
Android 13 based OS 1.5 is starting to roll out to users as a stable live build with patch notes detailed in a Reddit thread. The beta for the 1.5 update began in his December and is scheduled for release in Q1 2023. The 157MB patch is Nothing OS’s most “critical update” and comes with software version 1.5.2.
Some of the compelling improvements in this Android 13 update revolve around performance improvements for Nothing Phone (1). The fingerprint unlock accuracy of the device has improved by about 12%, and the app launch speed has improved by about 71%. In addition, standby power consumption has been improved by about 50%, improving battery life.
Nothing CEO Carl Pei has commented on the improved battery life of the Nothing Phone (1) while using the 1.5 software.

This software update also includes a new user experience. Phone (1) owners can now easily switch data usage when using dual SIMs. Quick Settings now has a quick button to launch his QR scanner in the camera and an option to set per-app language settings, one of his features introduced in Android 13.
No work has been done with some UI changes for Phone (1), introducing a new look for a cleaner camera interface and media controls. With the 1.5 update, album artwork is now visible when using the media controls. This is the version that Pixel devices are likely to mix with Nothing OS’s own user interface.
When it comes to overall phone customization, nothing has brought the new Glyph sound pack with more ringtones and notification options. Users can now take advantage of lock screen customization options to add camera, torch, device control and wallet shortcut icons.
