Design details of Tecno’s Phantom V Fold leak  along with an official-looking image

Tecno’s premium sub-brand, Phantom, is fairly young, but very ambitious. He’s already gearing up to launch his first foldable phone at this year’s MWC (starting later this month). Called the Tecno Phantom V Fold, the device has been leaked several times, including in videos.

Now the insider is speaking Giz China added information about what they saw in these leaks. Phantom (and Tecno in general) like to develop in-house, and this includes folding hinges.

The Phantom V Fold has a “reverse snap structure”, a design that improves the phone’s structural stability. This is further improved through the use of durable, lightweight aerospace grade materials.

Leakster also provided images that look official. Three lenses can be seen on the circular camera island, but they appear to be only part of a five-lens configuration (presumably including two selfie cameras). The focal lengths of these lenses and the sensors behind them are still unknown.

Tecno themselves have already confirmed that the Phantom V Fold will be powered by the Dimensity 9000+, a boosted version of the 9000 (+5% CPU, +10% GPU). This chip was recently used in his Oppo Find N2 Flip clamshell, another foldable.

PS. A month ago we shared a concept video for the Phantom V Vision. This is a phone that combines a folding action with a sliding mechanism for an even larger internal screen. V-fold only does the folding part. Whether or not V Vision will ever become an actual product is currently unknown, but we may find out more at his Tecno event at MWC.
