The findings came after researchers analyzed the genomes of thousands of migraine sufferers to see if they could identify a genetic link. They performed cross-trait analyzes to identify common genomic regions, loci, genes and pathways and tested for casual relationships.

“Among the nine glycemic characteristics we examined, we found significant genetic correlations between fasting insulin (blood insulin levels) and glycated hemoglobin in both migraine and headache, whereas 2-hour glucose It was genetically correlated with headache only,” said Rafiqul Islam, a postdoctoral fellow at QUT. “We also found an area containing genetic risk factors shared between migraine and fasting insulin, fasting glucose, and glycated hemoglobin, and for headache, glucose, fasting insulin, glycated hemoglobin, and fasting pro We found a region that shares insulin.”
