Google’s popular workspace app gets a Material Design makeover. Over the next few weeks, we’ll revamp our Docs, Sheets, Drive, Slides, and other apps with new features to help you get more done.
The new look for Google’s Workspace app is based on the company’s Material Design 3 and can be found across Google’s products, including the latest Android phones. Google says the new visual updates should help “further streamline your daily work flow.”
In addition to the new look, Google is adding many new features to the Workspace app with its new smart chip. For example, Google Sheets allows you to insert Google Maps data using the Place smart chip so you can easily select and preview locations.
In addition to the Place smart chip, Sheets also adds a new Finance smart chip for inserting stocks, mutual funds and currencies. Enhanced date functionality makes it easy to insert important dates using @today, @yesterday, @tomorrow, and @date.
Additionally, Google Docs now includes new stopwatch and emoji voting chips, as well as new templates for calendar event invitations. Third-party Smart His chips, including those from Google’s partners such as Atlassian, Asana, Figma, Miro, Tableau and ZenDesk, will also be coming to the Workspace app in the coming weeks.
Finally, when it comes to Drive, we make it easy to access frequently used tasks like downloading or deleting multiple files at once. Users can also access specific functionality by simply hovering over the item. A new search tip also helps users filter and find files faster.
