Samsung has announced its latest mid-range chipset, the Exynos 1380. His new SoC is the successor to his Exynos 1280 from last year and offers a slight improvement. UFS 3.1 storage and higher performance AI engine are supported. The chipset can now handle phones with screens up to FHD+ resolution and 144Hz refresh rate, and a 200MP primary camera.

The Exynos 1380 is manufactured on Samsung’s 5nm EUV process and features a CPU consisting of 4x Cortex-A78 performance cores running at 2.4Ghz and 4x Cortex-A55 efficiency cores humming at 2.0GHz. The GPU side is processed by Arm’s Mali-G68 MP5.

Samsung claims that on-device AI capabilities will enable more advanced language recognition and enhanced image recognition for voice assistance. As for connectivity, you get an integrated 5G modem that supports both mmWave and sub-6GHz networks. The chip also handles dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC and BeiDou, Galileo, GLONASS and GPS GNSS positioning.
Samsung’s Exynos 1380 chipset is set to debut in the brand’s upcoming Galaxy A54 phone.
