In this week’s episode, we interview Lolli co-founder and CEO Alex Adelman. Founded in 2018, Lolli is a Bitcoin rewards app that allows you to earn Bitcoin or cashback when you shop online or in person at his 10,000+ stores including McDonald’s, Starbucks, Dunkin’, CVS and Costco. Adelman was previously on the team that built Cosmic for Commerce, where he was acquired by PopSugar in 2015 and eventually merged with Ebates (now he is Rakuten) in 2017. was
“I have been selling Bitcoin to merchants since 2013,” Adelman said. “So it wasn’t a new offering. For better or worse, I was the bitcoin representative for many Fortune 500 merchants.”
Lolli has grown significantly over the past few years, partnering with less than 500 stores in its first few months and now with over 10,000 stores. Adelman took a deep dive into the crypto ecosystem’s reward system and how it has evolved over the years, as well as his Lolli future.
“We have been talking about the future of loyalty and our involvement in cryptocurrencies for a very long time,” Adelman said. “Now it’s happening.”
This episode also delves deep into the latest hot topic in the community: Bitcoin NFTs and ordinal numbers. We discussed whether Bitcoin NFTs are a good fit for the ecosystem, how the technology can grow in the long term, and how these digital inscriptions might fit into his Lolli business model.
“I strongly believe that the best NFTs are everlasting memes and everlasting art,” said Adelman. “If a thing has utility, as opposed to infinite belief, it could be the next Mona Lisa. rice field.”
In the future, Adelman believes more artists and projects will launch on Bitcoin. “Maybe in the next few months we will start seeing Lightning His marketplaces where you can buy and sell Bitcoin NFTs,” he added. “Artists want to build an ecosystem that has liquidity and people buying it, and there is no better ecosystem than Bitcoin.”
