Ming-Chi Kuo shared the latest update on the Apple MR headset. The bad news is that the device will likely launch alongside his iPhone 15 series in September. Kuo explains that the headset is facing software issues that reduce its chances of a release this spring. There are no details on the nature of the software issue mentioned, but his rumored start of WWDC seems unlikely at this point.
China’s Luxshare ICT is expected to become a major manufacturing partner for Apple MR headsets, which are expected to go into mass production in the first half of this year. According to recent rumors, Apple may launch his MR headset as the Reality Pro. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the device will likely run the proprietary xrOS operating system and could cost as much as $3,000.
Kuo also shared some preliminary details about the second-generation Apple MR headset, which will debut in 2025. There are reportedly two versions. A more affordable model from Foxconn and a high-end model again from Luxshare.
