What you need to know
- Some Galaxy S23 Ultra owners report being unable to connect to their home Wi-Fi 6 network.
- Samsung is aware of the issue and seems to be working to “immediate the situation”.
Following what appears to be a fairly successful launch of the Galaxy S23 series, users now own Samsung’s latest and greatest phones. Not everything is perfect as we are reporting issues.
In one post on the r/Samsung subreddit, a user is annoyed by the message “connected without internet”. But what makes this particular post so interesting is that an individual purchased two Galaxy S23 Ultra devices on launch day and only one of them had issues.
I contacted Samsung support and they said they are “fully aware of this issue and are working to ‘improve the situation’. Additionally, “he said we need something to address that in the next update.”
Scroll through the latest posts on the r/Samsung subreddit and you’ll find various examples of Galaxy S23 Ultra owners experiencing the same issue. Looking at the replies, it looks like the problem is limited to connecting to a Wi-Fi 6 router. Specifically, regarding using 802.11ax or WPA3 for the “preferred security method”.

You can always turn off the “802.11ax” feature or switch to WPA3 from your router’s settings, but if all other connected devices are working, it’s a no-brainer to do so. It seems like To make matters worse, a Reddit user exchanged the problematic Galaxy S23 Ultra for a replacement, only to find that the problem still exists.
This is a problem I’ve seen on my Galaxy S23 Ultra that I bought unlocked and received on launch day. The February 2023 update seems to have made things a little better in terms of keeping your phone connected to your home network, but it can still happen.
On the one hand, it’s good to know that Samsung is aware of the issue and hopefully working on a fix. There is a good chance that you will lose it. At that point, you’ll have to rely on Samsung’s warranty service or hope that the software fix actually arrives.

absolute beast
The Galaxy S23 Ultra is arguably the best Android phone ever, offering an incredible balance of performance and reliability.
