AMD has announced a new generation of chips with 3D V-Cache. A glimpse into the performance of the Ryzen 9 7950X3D. Our FPS review chose to focus on gaming performance, which makes sense since that’s exactly what this CPU was designed for. It’s not that it’s bad at general computing tasks, it just has occasional good choices for gamers. However, if your primary use is gaming, keep an eye out for these reviews.
The Ryzen 9 7950X3D is pretty much on par with the i9-13900K across the board, with a few exceptions like the Intel-favorite Rainbow 6 Extraction and the F1 2022, which is definitely an AMD fan. The new chip is significantly better than its predecessor when ray tracing is added to the mix, but not enough to overtake the i9-13900K for the overall top spot.
The Ryzen 9 7950X3D has a suggested retail price of $699.99, which doesn’t compare to the i9-13900K’s suggested retail price of $589. However, the actual street prices of Intel’s flagship products are likely to be higher than those that could make AMD’s offerings more attractive.
