Nothing Phone (2) will be powered by a flagship Snapdragon 8 series chip

What you need to know

  • Nothing CEO Carl Pei has announced that the Phone 2 will launch with a Qualcomm 8 series processor.
  • The device could launch on the recently announced Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, with many flagship devices currently shipping.
  • Nothing has been prepared for the Phone 2’s launch in the United States.

At MWC 2023, CEO Carl Pei didn’t reveal that the Phone 2 would feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 series processor. Pei made the announcement at his quaint Qualcomm booth at MWC alongside Qualcomm President and CEO Cristiano Amon.

This indicates that Nothing’s next phone could be a true flagship, although the exact chipset hasn’t been revealed. The new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is already in the latest and greatest Android phones launching this year, but many new devices, such as the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, are using last year’s chip.
