Just months after acquiring Twitter, Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk is distracted by the latest shiny object: AI chatbots.
according to new report(opens in new tab) From The Information, Musk is considering creating an artificial intelligence research lab to develop his own version of OpenAI’s incredibly successful ChatGPT. The billionaire has reportedly already contacted AI researchers for this project.
Igor Babuschkin, a former senior AI researcher at Google’s Deepmind, is one such person Musk approached to guide his AI chatbot vision. Babushkin confirmed to The Information that he has not yet agreed to work on Musk’s project.
While many details about Musk’s potential AI projects have yet to be revealed, the billionaire has been a very vocal critic of ChatGPT. Musk himself said he co-founded OpenAI in 2015, but has since severed ties with the company entirely. He left his OpenAI board of directors in his 2018.
