Mobile World Congress 2023 is coming to a close, but there is one device that still gets us pretty excited. The Nokia G22 has been largely overlooked, considering there have been a number of foldable smartphones and concept phones that have stolen the show.
It’s very likely that the Nokia G22 will end up being the best-selling phone. However, it is immediately clear that the focus here is on sustainability and repairability.

Not all phones need to be repairable by the owner. But with new phones coming out and parts readily available, I can’t help but think it’s another triumph for the Right to Repair initiative.
There aren’t many easy-to-repair smartphones on the market, and the Fairphone 4 is the only notable option. It’s the kind of market that the Nokia G22 is trying to enter, and the company aims to extend this simple repair feature to future phones. .
But given that the Fairphone 4 costs just under $600, the Nokia G22 has a slightly better chance of succeeding. Meanwhile, HMD Global will launch the Nokia G22 at a retail price of $179.
That being said, this is still a budget-friendly phone, and while it’s repairable, it might be a little too much for some people. It consists of a total of 39 different steps. But on the bright side, you don’t have to worry about needing a specialized heat gun to remove the adhesive.
Of course, this isn’t going to make waves in the same way that similar phones from Samsung have. Because one of these devices may gain market acceptance and change market needs.
