What you need to know
- JerryRigEverything runs a durability test on the OnePlus 11.
- Previous OnePlus flagships did less well in similar tests, bending completely under the camera housing.
- The OnePlus 11 is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus on the front and Gorilla Glass 5 on the back.
If you love watching expensive smartphones scratch, burn and bend, you’re probably a fan of JerryRigEverything. This time, he puts his new OnePlus 11 through the squeezer to see if it does better than his predecessor.
The video opens by acknowledging that previous OnePlus flagships, including the OnePlus 10T, didn’t hold up to the durability test and snapped completely right under the camera housing. The OnePlus 10 Pro before it suffered a similar fate doesn’t bode well for OnePlus.
The OnePlus 11’s design, especially the return of the circular camera island and alert slider, is highly praised, so it works well enough at first. The phone managed pretty well during the scratch test, with the display coming out of the burn test unscathed.
The OnePlus 11 bends back and forth, so it strains to hold itself up. The Gorilla Glass 5 on the back cracks in all directions, but the Gorilla Glass Victus covering the display seems to do much better under pressure.
You can watch the full video above to see how the OnePlus 11 fared after JerryRigEverything’s durability test. We recommend slapping the case to prevent your phone from suffering a similar fate.
The OnePlus 11 is one of our favorite smartphones this year thanks to its great value. The phone is powered by the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, which offers great battery life with super fast charging and is cheaper than many top Android phones at just $699. The phone may break under enough pressure, but it won’t break the bank.
