When Amazon announced its latest lineup of Fire TV Omni TVs, the company not only improved the TVs themselves, but also added some extra features. One of the unique additions is the all-new Fire TV ambient experience. It takes a bit of inspiration from Samsung’s ‘The Frame’ lineup that can turn your TV into a work of art.
Amazon’s Fire TV Omni QLED’s Ambient Experience takes it to the next level by letting you choose a specific photo, album, or “collection” of artwork to view. Additionally, you can view several built-in widgets to access sticky notes, smart home controls, calendar events, and more.
How to view your own photos on Amazon Fire TV Omni
As you can imagine, to actually display your own image library as a background, you first need to set up Amazon Photos. Currently, Amazon doesn’t seem to offer the ability to use the Google Photos library, but Amazon Photos is quite capable on its own and easy to set up.
Whether you’re setting up Amazon Photos for the first time or already using the service, we recommend setting up and using a few dedicated albums. Once that’s done, here are the steps to view your photos on Amazon Fire TV Omni.
1. Launch “Ambient Experience”.Alexa, launch Ambient Experience.”
2. Press . Menu button (3 vertical lines) With the Alexa voice remote.
3. Highlight to select change background.
4. Selection personal photo.

How to view your art collection in Ambient Experience on Amazon Fire TV Omni
The default setting when using Amazon Fire TV Omni is for Ambient Experience to display an array of third-party collections. Some of these are beautiful photos from different parts of the world. However, Amazon has also added a few different and unique sets of collections.
1. Launch “Ambient Experience”.Alexa, launch Ambient Experience.”
2. Press . Menu button (3 vertical lines) With the Alexa voice remote.
3. Highlight to select change background.
4. Selection Art and photography collection.
Five. Find and select your collection what you want to use.
6. When prompted, select Change collection.
Admittedly, I was a little surprised by the ability to display widgets from the ambient experience. It’s a welcome addition, as it’s really nice to just use the included Alexa Voice Remote to turn on lights or watch security cameras.

Further customize your ambient experience settings
Not surprisingly, there are other ambient experience settings you can tweak and change. But to do that, you’ll need to go to your Fire TV Omni’s Settings app.
1. wake Your Amazon Fire TV.
2. From the home screen scroll right Choose. settings (gear) icon.
3. Selection display and sound.
4. Scroll down and select ambient experience.
5. Highlight and select Environmental setting.
From here you can use various menus to adjust the appearance of your ambient experience. These include changing the size of the widgets displayed, adjusting how often the background changes, turning the clock and weather widgets on and off, and more.
Ambient experience is a nice addition
Once you understand the quirks of Amazon Fire TV Omni QLED’s Ambient Experience and how to actually access the settings, it’s definitely something you’ll find yourself enjoying. We already had it, but the addition of the various collections is a nice touch.
In addition, Amazon adding various widgets can help you quickly view various information and easily control your smart home. We expect Amazon to implement more widgets in the future, but this is definitely a good start.
