With MWC wrapping up this week, the GLOMO (Global Mobile Awards) winners include Apple, TCL and Motorola. Awards are presented each year in various categories including Mobile Technology, Digital Everything, Devices, Tech4Good and Government Leadership. Let’s take a look at this year’s “Devices” category winners.
The “Best Smartphone” award went to the Apple iPhone 14 Pro. Other entries eligible for this award include the Google Pixel 7 Pro, Nothing Phone (1), Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4 and Galaxy Z Fold4.

In “disruptive device innovation,” Apple wins emergency SOS via satellite again. Apple’s iPhone 14 launch event showed the world that satellites can be used to communicate in emergencies without the need for special hardware.

Soon after, T-Mobile announced a partnership with SpaceX to help fill dead zones in the US with older devices, and MediaTek announced that future chipsets would support satellite data connectivity. Other devices eligible for this award include Google’s Tensor 2 chip, Qualcomm Snapdragon and Sony’s IMX989 camera sensor.
With the theme of satellite communications, this year’s awards were also given to satellite-related equipment. The “Best in Show” award goes to Bullit’s Motorola Defy Satellite Link. Powered by MediaTek silicon, the device uses Bluetooth to interface with a smartphone and can send his SMS messages anywhere there’s a clear view of the sky.
Other devices considered here include Honor Magic Vs, Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, and Oppo Find N2 Flip. In this category, “Awards will be judged based on the best products at the show and will be reviewed by a panel of judges actually selected at the show.
