After investing €1 billion in a new R&D center in Munich two years ago, Apple announced a €1 billion investment in a new silicon design center. In fact the new facility is right across the street so it is treated as an extension of the existing facility.

Apple wants to bring 2,000 engineers together in one place so they can work more efficiently on cutting-edge equipment. Efforts will be made to develop custom silicon designs, power management chips and future wireless technologies. The main goal is to improve the performance, efficiency and power saving of Apple’s devices.
With so much cash lying around, Apple is poised to announce such a huge investment, with more to come in the near future. We have spent more than €18 billion on German companies and have provided numerous jobs in the country.
