OpenAI announced on Wednesday(opens in new tab) ChatGPT and Whisper’s API, one of the speech-to-text products. This means that third-party developers can integrate his ChatGPT and Whisper artificial intelligence technology into their products and services.

Companies are already jumping on this new service. Earlier this week, Snap Inc. announced My AI for Snapchat+, which allows Snapchat Plus subscribers to send messages to his ChatGPT chatbot within the app. Instacart, Shopify’s consumer apps Shop, Quizlet, and Speak are other apps currently integrated with ChatGPT.
The app’s use cases vary depending on the purpose of the app, but they all showcase the technology’s chat capabilities and AI-driven recommendations. Developers using the API will have access to the latest model, called ChatGPT 3.5 Turbo, released at the same time as the announcement.

Developers were already using ChatGPT’s technology through OpenAI’s existing API tools. But now, an open source platform dedicated to the latest ChatGPT model makes ChatGPT significantly cheaper and more accessible to third parties.
