People modding the batteries of affordable Samsung phones can be either simple curiosities or out of control.
A Redditor posted an Imgur collection on how they modded a Samsung Galaxy A32 5G with a 30,000mAh battery. The user replaced his 5,000mAh battery that the A32 originally had with his six Samsung 50E 21700 cells, bringing its size to 30,000mAh.
Looking at their photo collection, it’s not the most graceful execution and the end result looks like something out of an apocalyptic movie.The Redditor claims that six 50E cells increased the weight of the Galaxy A32 to at least a pound. I was definitely referring to that (imagine that). It also reportedly took about seven hours to fully charge the 30,000mAh formulation.

The original 5,000mAh battery that powers the Galaxy A32 5G only features 15W charging, but that’s not bad. There is likely to be. However, if something like this hits the market, consumers could see about a week of life before needing another charge (in theory).
But before we get too excited, as 9to5 points out, this 30,000mAh battery is a cause for serious concern, and even TSA could get involved. The maximum battery size allowed on board is 27,000mAh, so you’ll have to cut a few cells if you’re going to skyrocket this modded device.
The experiment also caused some confusion about the Galaxy A32. A Redditor said the battery shows 1% charge even though the device is fully charged. It also includes USB-A and USB-C ports on the welded-on extra, allowing him to charge two other devices if he needs to be next to the battery. The modded A32 can also be charged using USB-C, Lighting port (Apple) and MicroUSB with fast charging.
OEMs have consistently tried to improve cell phone battery efficiency without delving too deeply into size. A 5,000mAh battery is the height of what many are willing to do because the Galaxy S23 Ultra has one in addition to his 45W fast charging. The latest flagship Ultra devices can deliver around two days of battery life.
Conversely, OnePus, through consumer research, has expressed an interest in providing faster charging speeds using large size and power efficient cell phone batteries.
