what! Don’t want your CPU usage to go up when you quit your game?
NVIDIA’s recent Game Ready 531.18 WHQL driver included some unintended features that disappointed some users. Some gamers noticed an average 10% increase in CPU usage after exiting a game or rendering program. This is rather strange behaviour, so they posted their findings on the web and more users found the same thing.
The culprit was traced to the Nvidia game session telemetry plugin, NvGSTPlugin.dll. Most of the time the DLL leads to his CPU usage spikes, but more than a few users are experiencing his BSoD with games, especially games that aren’t named.
NVIDIA will release a hotfix for high CPU usage and crashes tomorrow. If you don’t remember that process, you can rollback the driver in the meantime. Bleeping Computer was good enough to list the steps here.
