The Motorola Edge 40 Pro came out last month, showing up on Geekbench powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset and soon on the Google Play console. In both cases, it was suggested that this would be the global version of his Moto X40 from December.
Now that Evan Blass has shared a cell phone render and a short video, the connection seems even more certain. They belong on his Edge 40 Pro page on Motorola.com. Note that this will appear as Moto Edge+ (2023) as the naming scheme in the US is slightly different.
One video mentions a 165Hz refresh rate for the display. This is one of the X40’s highlights. The display is a 6.7-inch 10-bit OLED panel with a resolution of 1,080 x 2,400 pixels (20:9) with curved sides.

The phone is powered by SD 8 Gen 2 and has up to 12 GB of RAM (according to GPC data). The battery should be a 4,600mAh power cell with 125W fast wired charging and 15W wireless (note that there were some differences between the X30 and Edge 30 Pro last year) .
The X40 (and possibly the Moto Edge 40 Pro) are equipped with a 50MP main camera (1/1.55 inch sensor, OIS), a 50MP ultra-wide angle (117°) and a 12MP zoom camera (2x). On the front, there’s a 60MP selfie camera inside the central punch hole.
As you can see from some of these images, the phone has stereo speakers (with Dolby Audio) and is water resistant (the X40 is IP68 rated).

No word on when Motorola will launch the Edge 40 Pro globally. Without the X40 Pro, there probably won’t be a follow-up to the Edge 30 Ultra, but other models (such as the vanilla Edge 40) should be on board as well.
