However, QuantWare’s focus now is on new processors. As the company’s CEO and co-founder Matthijs Rijlaarsdam told me, the main advance lies in how to connect the various qubits. He also said the company, which spun out of TU Delf/QuTech, hopes it can scale to meet current demand. After all, there aren’t thousands of companies looking to build quantum computers. QuantWare, which currently uses a national clean room available to researchers and companies in the Netherlands, plans to bring more production in-house over time. “It’s not about quantity,” he says Rijlaarsdam. “It’s a question of quality. The company said it has raised more money than originally planned.
